About Us

Nate and Peter are brothers who started investing in real estate together in 1996. The first year was very successful even with their lack of knowledge. They are both St. Paul natives, who managed their own real estate portfolio between 1996-2002, managing 10 residential properties adding up to 18 units. May of 1996, Peter bought a duplex on a contract for deed and later that year Nate purchased a HUD home. Peter was 25 and was managing a Green Mill restaurant helping with the training in pizza operations full-time in St. Paul, while Nate just graduated from high school and was employed full-time at the Copperdome restaurant (St. Paul). Since then both have experienced more in the areas of real estate and are here to assist with your multi-family apartment needs should it be to develop your ideas into new projects or to conduct specialized property searches.

Nate Opatz
NATE OPATZ - BROKER/OWNER

Nate got involved in Real Estate in 1997, at the age of 19. His first rental property was a HUD owned Tri-plex on Jenks Avenue in St. Paul. The first year was spent rehabbing. After 9 months his first tenants moved in. Within the second year Nate had aquired two more properties. Another duplex right across the street from the first and a small single family.

In 1999, Nate saw how solid Real Estate was as an investement. He wanted others to experience the same results. In August he joined the Roseville Coldwell Banker Burnet Office as a Sales Associate. Within the year Trina Opatz, Nate's wife, joined in on his passion. Together they climbed into the top 15% of their office for sales.

By 2003, Nate and Trina had achieved a lot of success as top performers in their residential marketplaces. Their unique marketing approach included specific neighborhood focus searches for their clients.

Nate has witnessed a huge need for a commercial realtor who can help manage an investors real estate portfolio and minimize management by consolidating smaller buildings into larger projects in desirable neighborhoods.

On August 10, 2005, APARTMENT REALTY & FINANCIAL GROUP was formed to help first-time and seasoned investors accomplish this goal.

PETER OPATZ - PROPERTY LOCATOR

Peter first purchased his investment property on a contract for deed in 1996 (at Front & Western, St. Paul). Learning as he went Peter evicted the first floor tenants and repaired, cleaned, and rented the unit. In six months he purchased another Duplex not far from the one he had just purchased. This one Peter lived on the main floor and rented out the upstairs. Over the next 2 years he bought another 5 rentals including one deal with Nate.

From 1996 through 2002, Peter worked odd jobs and after establishing good cash flow just focused on managing his properties from working his own vendor list to: supervision of multiple locations, prepare units, showings, leasing, record keeping, and landscape and grounds. Through the good and bad experiences he had enough time to author a book on his hands on work in rental property. The goal was to teach people how to increase their net worth by buying one investment at a time with little money and no experience. Since 2001, he has sold over 300 books and already working on book #2.

In October, 2002, Peter sold his last remaining property and moved into property management being hired by Mid Continent Management Corporation, St. Paul ("MCMC"). At the same time he ventured into another cash flow business buying into a vending distributorship. While working full-time at various sites for MCMC he worked as an Independent Snack Distributor operating 10 accounts with locations in Bloomington and Shakopee hotels.

Then in the March of 2005 Nate approached Peter with an idea of helping investors finding apartment buildings to help expand their real estate portfolios. Recognizing this need both worked on the fundamentals in the summer of '05, putting together the business idea and today are helping small investors realize bigger dreams.
